Tweetbot for Mac has a ‘super secret’ setting which allows the skipping of the t.co link redirects, making for a much better and faster UX. The t.co links have been barely working for me lately, which is frustrating, so I decided to try it. You should enable this too — it really makes things faster.
Recipe
- Close Tweetbot for Mac1.
- Open Terminal, type the following command and hit Enter:
defaults write com.tapbots.TweetbotMac OpenURLsDirectly YES
- Enjoy Tweetbot without the t.co bullshit.

- Tip: If it’s not currently active, you can just press ⌘Tab until Tweetbot is highlighted in the app switcher, don’t let go of ⌘ key, and just press Q — this will quit any app without bringing it to the foreground. ↩
