My Photography (16) — Spiral Staircase, Vatican Museums, 2014

February 16, 2017 · 13:00

The Spiral Staircase in the Vatican Museums was designed by Giuseppe Momo in 1932 — we spent only half a day inside, which was definitely not long enough. I suggest putting aside at least a full day, if you’re planning on going there. Two preferably.

Oh, and buy a ticket online, on the Vatican Museums’ webpage (beware of intermediaries!), to skip the line completely!

My Photography (15) — Bergen by Night, Norway, 2015

February 16, 2017 · 07:00

We spent three days in Bergen with our friends. Our wives and their boy were out taking in the sights of the city, looking for a restaurant, while we jumped on the Fløibanen to get some shots from the hills above the city — Fløyen to be precise. Hectic, but completely worth it.

My Photography (13) — Bicycle, Kraków, Poland, 2015

February 15, 2017 · 13:00

The weather was definitely not friendly — it was raining most of the day — but the sun did come out for a short while, and I chanced upon this bright green bicycle in the street; couldn’t pass it up.

Shot with Fuji X100T: f/2, 1/1000, ISO 200.

My Photography (11) — Wrocław’s Town Square, Poland, 2016

February 14, 2017 · 20:00

The day was freezing cold, windy, and I felt terrible, but I managed to get my favourite shot of Wrocław’s Town Square. It was taken from the observation tower in St Elizabeth’s Basilica — it’s a rough climb up some very narrow steps, but completely worth it.

Shot with Sony A7R II + FE 85 mm f/1.4 GM: f/16, 13 s, ISO 100.

My Photography (10) — Gran Canal, Venice, Italy, 2016

February 14, 2017 · 15:00

This is probably my favourite shot from Venice, from our recent four day trip during the summer of 2016. It was taken from the Ponte dell’Accademia towards Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. I used a x400 ND filter to get the two-minute exposure.

Shot with Fuji X100T: f/8, 125 s, ISO 200.

My Photography (4) — Balloon Festival, Bielawa, Poland, 2016

May 2, 2016 · 22:09

We drove down to Bielawa today, which is more or less south of Wrocław in Poland, for the Balloon Festival. I did not expect to get the shots that I did, despite the weather not playing nice. The sunset, some two hours after the above photo was taken, was close to perfect.

Shot with DJI Phantom 4 @ f/2.8, 1/640, ISO 100.

My Photography (3) — Encore, Las Vegas, USA, 2009

March 29, 2016 · 13:40

I travelled to Las Vegas in 2009 for NAB. The trip there took close to 24 hours from Europe, and I went straight to bed when I got to my hotel room in the evening. I woke up around 5:00 in the morning, surprisingly fresh after the long journey, and looked out of the window — the sky was already showing a hint of blue, and things to come. The first rays hit the Encore hotel at 5:47, and I got the shot above four minutes later. I’m partial to it because of the missing three windows, creating an anomaly in the otherwise serene mirror of the Encore façade.

Shot with Canon 50D + Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS — f/2.8, 1/200, ISO 1250, ~168 mm.

My Photography (2) — Ponte Sant’Angelo, Rome, Italy, 2015

March 15, 2016 · 08:45

We went to Rome last year to a concert by Ludovico Einaudi. Naturally, I couldn’t resist going out and shooting one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The sun was starting to go down as we arrived at our hotel, so we quickly went out not to miss the evening magic hour.

Shot with Fuji X100T: f/8, 1/120, ISO 200.

My Photography (1) — Paharganj, Delhi, India, 2014

March 12, 2016 · 16:00

We arrived in Paharganj in New Delhi on 11 November 2014 and spent the day sightseeing the district. We were walking down Qutab Road and suddenly came upon these public urinals. Not something we expected.

Shot with Nikon D700 + Nikkor 35 mm f/2D: f/4, 1/160, ISO 1250.
