iOS 9.3.5 was released within the last hour. It contains security fixes for three exploits, which are detailed by the New York Times. You can update your iOS device OTA or via iTunes. Should you need the specific IPSW file, you can find the links below.

Vesper and Q Branch Are Shutting Down
It’s Monday morning and the first news of the day that I read is that Q Branch is shutting down and so is their app — Vesper. I have been using Vesper for a few specific tasks since it debuted back during the iOS 6 days. I still remember it was one of the first apps to look pretty damned good after Apple changed their design language in iOS 7. It was also one of the first apps to be ready for the 4.7″ and 5.5″ iPhone screens.

iOS 9.3.4 was released last week and it contains a pretty important security update. You can either update OTA, via iTunes or just get the IPSW file below.
Instagram Stories is Missing One Feature, Which I Would Love to See
While I can understand being inspired by something and putting your own spin on it, I hate blatant copying. It’s hard to judge the new Instagram Stories any other way — they took what Snapchat created and integrated it into Instagram. While it’s true that some things are a bit different, it’s still theft. The surprising part is that I haven’t started hating Instagram, which has always been the preferred way to share my photography with the world. There is one feature that I would like to see added to Instagram Stories (or Snapchat for that matter), which would make it a better storytelling tool than it currently is…
iOS 9.3.3 – IPSW Direct Download Links
iOS 9.3.3 is live with nothing apparently new, just the important stuff — bug fixes and stability updates. You can either update OTA, via iTunes or just get the IPSW file below.

Quick Thoughts on iOS 10, macOS Sierra, tvOS 10,
and watchOS 3 from WWDC 2016
I’ve been thinking about what Apple showed us at this year’s WWDC 2016, and I can’t help but be satisfied with what they presented. iOS and macOS seems to have finally been accepted as mature operating systems, and I haven’t seem much criticism, nor any ‘Apple is doomed’ stories.

One Reason Why You Should Use 1Blocker for Mac & iOS
I bought a bunch of adblockers for iOS when they came out last year. After repeated experiments, I stuck with 1Blocker — it was extremely fast, very good at dealing with trackers (which I care about most), and streamlining my mobile experience. The latter is probably the most important, since it really helps conserve data when roaming — why would I want to download a 1 MB webpage and 9 additional megabytes of trackers, when I can just download that 1 MB?

Preference Suggestions and Things to Remember After Installing Safari Technology Preview
Safari Technology Preview dropped today and while the big news is that you can use it with your iCloud account because it’s signed by Apple, there are a few basic settings you should remember about — you are setting this up as a new browser after all.
How to fix iOS 9.x Safari/Mail Link Bug [updated]
Apple published iOS 9.3.1, which should fix all of the issues.
There have been numerous threads and articles about the iOS link bug, with many of them posting false information. This bug is not limited to iOS 9.3 nor does it have much to do with the update itself. It appears to be caused by the Shared Web Content Daemon, which goes into a crash loop after the Booking.com app tried to register too many universal links. Perhaps other apps are to blame too. I won’t bore you with all the details and get to the point: the method I wrote up below fixed the issue on my iPhone 6S Plus.
iOS 9.3 (13E237) for iPhone, iPad & Apple TV IPSW Direct Download Links
Apple released a newer build (13E237 vs. the older 13E233) of iOS 9.3, which is supposed to fix the activation bug in older devices. This update is accessible OTA, but you can also grab one of the IPSW files below and update manually via iTunes should you choose to. This update does not fix the ‘link problem’.

OS X — Option + Shift + Left/Right Arrow Keys
Shortcuts for Selecting Text Don’t Work
I updated my MacBook Pro to OS X 10.11.4 last night. After confirming that everything was fine, I closed the lid and forgot about it. This morning, while writing an article, I found I couldn’t select text using the ⇧ + ⌥ + Left/Right Arrow keys. Dammit!

OS X — Change the Number of Icons Per Row/Column in Launchpad
I personally don’t use Launchpad, which is designed to make it easier to manage your apps iOS-style. Instead, I prefer to use Spotlight or the Dock to launch whatever I may need at the moment, but I know that some people swear by it. The default grid is a 7×5 array of icons, with the options of putting them in folders. This can be changed.

Of the four programs listed below, I (will) use three. Affinity Photo will be my Photoshop replacement right after I finish posting this (and I already have Affinity Designer [App Store], which I consider to be better for my needs than Illustrator), Tweetbot is simply the best there is, and Screens VNC helps me access my Mac in case I need to.
